Let me get this out of the way: If you are trying to make money from blogging in 2022 and beyond, you're crazy. The rise of social media and the shortening of people's attention spans are the main reasons why you should not definitely make a career from blogging. Nobody reads long texts anymore.
But look at the bright side, if your intentions of blogging is to just blog and don't give a rat's ass about the SEO, the analytics, then you should be fine.
As I wrote earlier from my very first post, the reason I blog is simply because I like blogging. I like writing long journals. As a kid, I've practiced writing anything on my diary. I don't fill my diary almost every day, but I managed to write multiple diaries throughout my life.
It's really fun, and you get to learn how to type better. Or, if you have one of those fancy grammar extension on your browser, it'll help you improve your grammars.
The other reason why I really like blogging is the feeling of being free of constant waiting for the likes and retweets on my posts. And that makes me feel a bit obsessed over it, since I'm an Asperger with an attention span of a dead squirrel.
I think the right reason for blogging in 2022 and beyond is NOT to make money, that comes later. It's to preserve the “art” of blogging. Wow, that sentence just made me pretentious, but the point still stands.
Just like horse riding and cooking, I think blogging should be preserved. I just hope one day there will be some sort of 'Blogging Revival', as the younger generations start blogging just for the hell of it.
Social media gets us all connected, but at the cost of personalities. Blogging is the place where people can read your thoughts and aspirations without character limitations or expecting a lot of clout.
